An Exciting Discovery

...for me at least. This discovery helped so much with my final edits that I want to share it, old news that it may be to many of you.

It's the Read Aloud app available on Word.

I like to read my work out loud after I have edited it to the best of my abilities. But reading almost 80,000 words aloud to myself isn't easy, and I still manage to fill in imaginary words. With Read Aloud, I could choose the pace of reading and the voice. Despite the lack of expression, or perhaps because of it, I made many minor tweaks over the past week as I listened to the novel, changes that I could not see by reading and re-reading.

With someone reading out loud, I hear instead of see. I hear the rhythm of the sentences, the awkward sentences, repetitive words, missing words. Discovering this app was like magic. I recommend it for anyone who writes using Word. If you are familiar with the app, thanks for visiting this blog and enjoy your day

For those of you like me, still learning about all that technology has to offer, and If you want to learn how to find Read Aloud, I'll save you time.
